This painting was inspired to a journey to Machu Picchu
in Peru, January 2000. This ancient city is well known as one of
most powerful sacred sights on the planet. It is a place of much
magic, grace
and beauty. This is not, however, a conventional view of the city.
I was personally moved by the green dome shaped mountains which surround
the peak on which Machu Picchu was built. The people call them Apus,
which means 'mountain spirits'. I felt direct and profound communication
with these great beings and intended to honor their beauty and wisdom.
